AIARE Avalanche Level 1 Course
$375 (non-hut based)
For all you female backcountry skiers & splitboarders looking to finally become “Avy Savvy”, this course is for you! The class follows American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) Level 1 curriculum and is catered specifically to providing avalanche safety education to women. The course teaches women a better awareness and knowledge of avalanche safety, how to plan for and travel safely in avalanche terrain, how to use current avalanche rescue techniques, and gives women the empowerment and confidence to be an active part of their backcountry decision-making experience. Upon successful completion of the course you will obtain your Avalanche Level 1 certification.

Course Description:
The level one is a 3-day, 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazard management with 50% of the time is spent in the classroom and 50% as practical field time
Course Requirements:
- Be a strong beginner to very competent skier or snowboarder
- Some previous experience in the backcountry
- Must have backcountry skis or splitboard w/ skins, avalanche beacon, probe, & shovel (BCA demo gear available if needed)
Course Benefits:

- Recognize weather, snow, and terrain factors contributing to slope instability
- Make competent decisions regarding your winter backcountry travel
- Apply safe snow travel techniques
- Apply effective avalanche rescue
